The specialist techniques used to create a kind of semi-permanent make-up are often referred to as micropigmentation. This procedure can simply be described as minute particles of coloured pigment being placed mechanically below the surface of the skin. The most frequently requested procedures are permanent colour to the eyebrows, lip liner and full lips/lip blend, top and bottom eyeliner shading, beauty spot and freckle treatments. Although the treatment fades after approximately 2 - 4 years, some colour will remain to a greater or lesser degree. Micropigmentation can be compared to having a tattoo as the new pigment or colour is deposited in the dermal layer of the skin, just below the surface. You can return to work and normal activities immediately afterwards.

How Long Does it Take to Have a Treatment?

You will need to allow 1.5 hours for your first procedure. If you intend to have a “full face” (3 procedures together) then you should allow 3 hours in total.

How Long Does it Last?

Semi-Permanent Make-up should last for several years. Over that time the colour will fade and break down. It is suggested that you come back for a top up” procedure every 18 months/2 years to keep the look complete and fresh. A “top up” appointment is half the current full treatment price.

 

Does It Hurt?

Some clients feel no discomfort at all – others feel minimal discomfort. Topical anaesthetics are used to control pain tolerance. Clients say that having a procedure is similar to having their eyebrows plucked. Once the procedure is complete there is no discomfort whatsoever.

What About After Care?

You will be given a comprehensive after care guide after the treatment, along with verbal instructions.

 

Is it Expensive?

It is very little compared with the years that this will last you and it doesn’t run, smudge, or wash off. The cost of the procedure should not be the most important factor when choosing a permanent make-up technician but the quality of work, attention to detail and the technician’s skill in artistry and creating symmetry.
