A face to face consultation is always required prior to any Anti-Wrinkle treatment with my prescribing Nurse. This fee is £30.00 and will be deducted off the final fee of treatment.

 

What are the Benefits of Anti-wrinkle injections?

Ageing results in loss of elasticity and collagen in the skin giving a looser, dull look. This can be due to simple genetics and how your skin changes over time but also as a result of sun exposure, stress, smoking, alcohol consumption and dehydration. Anti-wrinkle injections (commonly known as Botox®) can help tackle these signs of ageing no matter what has happened to your skin in the past. By reducing overactive facial muscles that pull and tug on the skin, your skin becomes smoother and tighter as it gets a chance to recover from continual movement. The break from the muscles moving the skin means the skin gets irons out giving it a  fresher look – It can make you look years younger. The treatment is gentle lasting from 3-6 months and prevents those annoying fine lines which give our age away. No more caking of your makeup in those fine lines, and regular treatments 2/3 times a year can make you feel more confident and rejuvenated.

 

How do anti-wrinkle injections work?

Botulism Toxin is a naturally occurring bacteria in the environment. This is the main ingredient in anti-wrinkle injections.  When botulism toxin is injected into the muscle it causes a block between the nerve and the muscle. Once injected, although the nerve sends signals to the muscle to contract, often excessively as we get older, the muscle will no longer respond. After treatment, the wrinkles do not appear on the skin and you have a smoother look. Overtime this block breaks down and then the nerve communicates with the muscle again causing contractions. The treatment will start working gradually within a few days of the treatment but can take up to 2 weeks to take full effect. It’s then naturally broken down and gradually wears off over in 3-6 months. The toxin breaks down in the muscle but is not passed anywhere else in the body so entirely safe.

 

Anti-Wrinkle Treatment Areas

 

Frown Lines

Frown lines are deep lines in-between your eyebrows often formed when concentrating or angry. If these are not treated, over time, a permanent line can appear called the ‘11’s’ lines. The frown lines appear as a result of 2 different muscle groups contracting called the Procerus and the corrugators. Frown lines can make people look permanently cross. They can even appear in your early 20’s due to genetic causes, so if your parents developed them at a young age, you are more likely to see them appearing over the years. By treating with an anti-wrinkle relaxant, as soon as the fine lines appear, you can prevent deep grooves from forming and becoming permanent. Anti-wrinkle injections, even twice yearly will dramatically decrease line formation and even clear fine lines permanently in this area. It can also help relieve any tension that is held in this area due to the muscle contracting so often so can help with headaches.

 

Forehead Lines

These horizontal lines appear on the upper forehead when you elevate your eyebrows. They can become deeper and more prominent in those who have a lot of expressions when talking or appear when you are surprised! As the forehead is often the first area on the face we can see, these fine lines can be ageing and can also affect the way your makeup sits.

A very light treatment in this area can dramatically smooth out these lines without looking fake or affecting the level of your eyebrows. This is a very delicate area to treat and over-treatment can result in a heavy hooded look. We are particularly cautious in this area but if you feel you need more we welcome you back at the 2-week mark for a free top-up.

 

Corner eye lines (Crow’s feet)

These fine lines appear around the eyes when you smile. Unfortunately, these lines can frame the eye making you look older and your eyes appear smaller. Having this area treated will help you feel more rested and brighter in the area. It won’t change the way you smile or how your face lights up with laughter, it will simply clear these ageing lines that have appeared over time. No one will guess you have had the treatment but everyone will notice the new fresh you.
